Under the supervision of Supply Chain Project Manager, the purpose of this position is to ensure effective implementation of ICI Alliance for Change project; a project aiming at testing the effectiveness of strengthening adults’ protective and nurturing skills and creating local alliances of supportive actors (teachers and parents) to protect children from child labour and improve child development outcomes, including learning and wellbeing.

S/he will work with parents/caregivers, school teachers and school children in 5 project communities in Amensie Central, Amensie West and Adansi Asokwa districts.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Advocacy and Stakeholder engagement
Ensure a field-based collaboration with relevant partners (including Ghana Education Service, the License Buying Company)
Represent ICI at programme and project functions and meetings as agreed with the Supply Chain Project Manager
Organize quarterly teacher-parent meetings in the community to follow-up on progress made on time children spend on different activities, including work.
Organize quarterly stakeholders’ coordination meetings in the project districts and communities to follow-up progress of project implementation.
Project Management
Ensure the execution of the activities according to the project planning and the respect of the methods of the project by all actors involved
Organize the digitalization of collected data in the classrooms every quarter and ensure the feedback to the communities after its analysis
Supervise teachers’ extra time remuneration
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports and update on project activities.
Participate in monthly or ad hoc internal coordination meetings between ICI Accra and Geneva office to discuss project implementation progress and challenges.
Support in the documentation of learnings, good practices, tools and training material
Capacity Building
Participate in teachers’ training and follow-up on application of positive teaching and other methods in the five primary schools of the project
Support teachers in the application of the methods of the project, in the creation of the alliance with parents at community level, and during data collection waves in the classroom
Once trained on the curriculum, organize weekly workshops with the parents of the communities and train them according to the method “Families Makes the Difference”
Engage in productive dialogue with parents, teachers and communities on children’s lesser engagement in child labour and improved development outcomes
Contribute to building children’s awareness of the roles and responsibilities of adults around them, and
involving children in the realization of the objectives of the projects as key actors and beneficiaries
Mission support and other duties
Support the organization of ICI missions and visits to project areas.
Perform any other duties as required by Supply Chain Project Manager and agreed by the Deputy Country Director/Programme Coordinator
Skills Required
Education and work experience
Essential:

University degree in Education, Psychology/Child Development, Social Sciences or other relevant discipline, with
at least 2 years’ experience in stakeholder engagement, training and project management.
Report preparation and knowledge documentation.
Experience in working at sub-national and community levels.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Irreproachable behaviour and commitment to the protection of children and respect for the rights of the child.
Desirable

Knowledge of child protection and/or child labour
Ability to establish good working relationships with partners and staff.
Ability to work under pressure, well organized with strong attention to detail.
Ability to collaborate effectively across cultures, including with team members and those based in other countries.

Languages

Fluency in written and spoken English, and a Ghanaian language preferably Twi.
Skills

Clear, concise written and verbal communications skills in English
Excellent inter-personal skills.
Excellent stills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
