Job Title: Brewery Manager

Context/Scope:

GGBPLC operates from two sites in five drinks categories: Stout, Lager, RTD, Non-alcoholic Malt and Mainstream spirits, as well as the distribution of Spirits.

Growth in the Ghana economy is estimated to continue at mid to high single digit in a competitive environment.

Consumers and customers in this region expect products of the highest quality. There is also growing middle classes who are likely to experiment with new products.

GGBPLC is undertaking significant change process, principally in the areas of accountability, quality maintenance practices, supply planning, cost reduction and efficiency. In line with its objectives GGBPLC will develop its people and create an environment that attracts and retains the best people.

As the Supply function we will produce quality products in a safe environment at competitive costs, on time and in full with no errors.

Purpose of Role:

The Brewery Manager has a responsibility to ensure the efficient operation of the production unit within approved operational budget and governance towards achievement of agreed targets for availability of products, product quality, equipment availability and maintenance, personnel training, and Safety/Health and Environment (SHE).

Accountabilities:

Commit to Occupational Health and Safety standards. Frequently state and articulate that Safety is our No. 1 priority. Be visible as an ambassador for safety by always behaving in a safe manner and challenging unsafe practices and behaviour of others, reprimanding where appropriate. Adhere strictly to the Site safety rules and systems and equipment operational procedures.
Drive the agenda of the Food Safety and Quality Management System.
Provide clear direction and leadership to the site production team and drive improved performance through Capability development and High Performance Coaching.
Develop action plans to deliver set objectives.
Create the environment to maximise the value of employee communication and engagement processes.
Develop strong relationships between Product Supply and the wider business for the good of the business.
Actively drive training and development of production team to deliver positive business impact and Track performance on KPIs, priorities and accountabilities for improvement.
Ensure compliance with quality, health, safety and risk management standards.
Qualifications and Experience Required:

A bachelor’s degree in a Science or Engineering field of study

A Dip/ MB in brewing science and technology from the Institute of Brewing and Distilling (IBD) will be useful

Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in the brewing industry

Solid functional experience as a Head of Department (HoD) in a Supply Function

Proven ability to use best practice manufacturing techniques to improve brewery operations.

Barriers to Success:

Inability to connect and build positive relationships.

Lack of understanding of the commercial and Demand agenda within the business.

Inability to demonstrate key leadership qualities.

The use of inappropriate language.

Inability to manage people for success
