A Starter website generally takes about one to two weeks once content is available. Business, Ecommerce and custom projects take longer. So the practical answer to when your website can launch is that the date is driven far more by how ready your content is than by how quickly the build itself moves.
That matters most if you are planning a launch around something fixed, such as a promotion or a reopening, because a date given before the content question is settled is a date that can move. Below is an illustrative planning sequence rather than a documented Sobiaonline process. Use it to organise your own questions and to see what each step tends to wait on. Ask us for the actual sequence, durations and dependencies before you rely on them for a date. If price is the other question you are holding, we have covered that separately in how much a website costs in Ghana.
An illustrative planning sequence
The sequence below is a generic planning model, not a description of how Sobiaonline runs a project. Scope, deliverables and timelines are confirmed in writing before work begins, and the page structure is agreed with you before the build starts. Domain and hosting are handled as part of the setup rather than sold as a separate package, and they are registered in your name so you keep ownership and control.
| Stage | What happens | What the stage waits on |
|---|---|---|
| Discovery and scope | Agreeing what the site has to do, which pages it needs and which features are required | Your answers on pages, functionality and goals |
| Content collection | Gathering copy, images, prices, contact details and anything else the pages will carry. A shop owner who needs product photographs and prices before a catalogue can be built is one example of this | Content you have supplied |
| Design | Page structure and layout put together and agreed | Your approval of the structure |
| Build | Pages assembled, enquiry form connected | Content that exists and is in a usable form |
| Revisions | Changes requested against the agreed structure | Your feedback, and a clear definition of what counts as a revision |
| Testing | Pages checked on phones, tablets and computers, and the enquiry form tested through | Working contact details |
| Launch | Site placed on the domain, with hosting set up in your name | Your approval to go live and the final payment stage |
| Handover | Six months of technical maintenance begins | Your confirmation that you have what you need to run the site |
A design that works across phones, tablets and computers, basic on-page search setup, a contact or enquiry form that reaches you directly, and six months of technical maintenance are part of every new website.
What can move a launch date
A number of things other than the build work itself can move a launch date.
- Content that has not arrived. Our guide to what a website costs in Ghana sets out that a final quotation depends on the number of pages, the functionality required and how ready your content is. A page with no copy and no images is not a page that can be built. One example is a set of service pages whose descriptions are still being written internally, and that stage cannot close until those words exist.
- An approval sitting with you. Page structure is agreed with you before the build starts, so a structure approved late pushes every later stage late with it. You work directly with the person responsible for understanding and delivering your website, so questions and approvals move straight between you.
- Images and media. Logos, product photographs, team pictures and photographs of your work are content, and they are collected alongside the copy. If you do not yet have usable images, that is a decision to settle before design starts rather than after it.
- Payment. Sobiaonline offers flexible payment options through bank cards and mobile money across various networks. Pay 60% to begin your project and the remaining 40% before launch or handover. Because the second stage falls before launch or handover, it sits directly on the path to a launch date rather than after it.
- Integrations and extra functionality. Corporate or custom projects can include advanced functionality and integrations, and ecommerce projects add a product catalogue structure, secure checkout and payment gateway configuration. The more a site depends on something outside itself, the more of the schedule depends on a party you do not control.
- Revisions. How many design revision rounds are included, and what counts as a round, is not stated on our package pages. Ask for it in writing before you accept a schedule, because it directly changes how much time the review stage needs.
What you can do before you request a launch date
Most of what you can do to protect a date happens before work begins.
- List every page you want, and what each one has to do
- Gather the copy, prices, contact details and images into one place
- We recommend deciding who signs off on structure and design, and keeping that person available
- We recommend noting anything you do not control yet, such as a new logo, a supplier catalogue or an undecided domain
Our package pages do not set out who writes or enters the content for each package, so treat that as something to confirm rather than assume. The other side of it is clear. The six months of technical maintenance that come with every new website cover software updates within the agreed scope, routine backups, security monitoring and correction of technical faults within the agreed scope. They do not include unlimited redesign, and they do not include entering content on your behalf.
When your launch date is already fixed
If a date is fixed by a promotion, a reopening or seasonal demand, raise it at the start rather than near the end. An immovable date stated at the start is information the plan can be built around from the first day. It also means the first release can carry only what the agreed scope can realistically deliver by that date.
Whether a shortened schedule is possible for your project, and what would have to change to get one, is not something our pages state. Ask it directly and get the answer in writing before you commit, rather than assuming a faster schedule is available on request.
You can read what each package covers on our pricing page, see the kinds of work we build on our web design services page, and look through the portfolio before you speak to anyone.
Questions to get in writing before you accept a date
- Which stage starts on which date, and what is the expected launch date?
- How long does a Business or Ecommerce project take from start to launch, and what are the dates for each stage?
- How many revision rounds are included, and what counts as one round?
- What content must I supply, in what format, and by when?
- What is explicitly not in the first release?
- What happens to the date if content or approvals arrive late?
- Who do I contact during the project?
Prepare your content before requesting a launch date. When you are ready, tell us what the site needs to do and the scope, deliverables and schedule will be confirmed in writing before work begins.
Frequently asked questions
Does an earlier launch date come with extra cost?
Our pages do not state a rush fee or a shortened-schedule charge, so it would be wrong to assume one exists and also wrong to assume one is free. Ask about an accelerated schedule when the schedule is discussed, and get the answer in writing before you commit.
What happens to the launch date if my content is late?
Content availability sits directly on the schedule. Rather than guess how a delay would be absorbed, ask for stage-by-stage dates in writing so you can see which stage is affected.
What do I receive when the project ends?
Six months of technical maintenance follows every new website, covering software updates within the agreed scope, routine backups, security monitoring and correction of technical faults within the agreed scope. What else is handed over at project end is not set out on our pages, so ask for that in writing before work begins. Domain and hosting are registered in your name, so you keep ownership and control.
