QAQC Associate

Genser Energy Inc. is an Independent Power Producer (IPP) based in the British Virgin Islands with operations in Africa and now seeks QAQC Associate

It specializes in providing custom engineered turn-key distributed generation energy solutions for clients in the mining, manufacturing, and utilities.

Genser engages in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) as well as operation and maintenance (O&M) of its power generation plants and sells electricity and/or steam to clients. Each project is financed and owned by a country-level subsidiary in Africa.

Quality Assurance, Quality Control Responsibilities

  • Supervise effective implementation of all test and inspection schedule and ensure adherence to all procedures and coordinate with various teams to perform quality audits on processes
  • Drive knowledge and compliance to all quality standards and procedures, quality manuals and systems for all employees, contractors, and suppliers
  • Manage lifting of all equipment and handle efficient storage of all hazardous materials and perform quality audits as per required schedule
  • Analyze all products and non-conformance processes and evaluate all documents to ensure maintenance of optimal quality
  • Prepare monthly QA/QC reports to evaluate performance and maintain an efficient record system for all project activities
  • Manage all work methods and maintain knowledge on all quality assurance standards and monitor continuous application for all quality assurance processes and recommend corrective actions for all processes
  • Liaising with the Legal and Business Development team to obtain necessary permits and licenses prior to the beginning of the project and foresee any other legal requirements
  • Inspect progress to ensure all work is completed as per mandated building codes and policies; environmental regulations and make note of errors or violations as well as give instructions for their corrections
  • Supervises the correct equipment calibration management activities
  • Coordinate Test Pack preparation and Final Handover documentation activities to ensure smooth handover
  • Conduct and organize QMS Internal/External audit and ensure close out of all inspection and Audit Non- Conformities.
  • Conduct inspection of all ongoing activities for electrical installations
  • Conduct inspections for all welding material deliveries
  • Attend all welding inspections with client/contractor representatives
  • Submit inspection requests in coordination with respective Construction Supervisors
  • Prepare daily QA/QC report regarding inspections, material, non-conformances etc
  • Prepare weekly surveillance reports, non-conformance reports and verification of corrective actions
  • Check the drawings and documents used at site for approvals and compliance with project requirements
  • Ensure that all works are carried out as per the approved method statements and drawings
  • Ensure that all equipment used are calibrated and with valid certificates
  • Assist / coordinate the preparation of the final handing over documents such as QAQC documents, testing and commissioning reports
  • Prepare testing and commissioning method statements in coordination with vendors, general contractor representative’s and project owner’s representatives
  • Collaborate with HSE to ensure total compliance during construction and installation
  • Ensures punch list and warranty items are collated and redressed by Project Team/Contractors
  • Ensures construction and installation of plants and equipment are implemented to the required prudent industry or utility practice to minimize operational risks
  • Ensures daily construction, installation and commissioning schedules are prepared for discussion during morning project and safety briefing.
  • Represents Genser Ghana during the weekly meetings with the customer

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related courses
  • Weld According to CSWIP or AWS
  • Non- Destructive test (NDT) at least level II in evaluation and Radiographic Interpretation, Ultrasound, Penetrating Test according to ASNT
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000/9001 and other relevant legislation

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • A minimum of four (4) years’ experience driving QAQC within a similar environment
  • Experience on large EPC Projects of Oil & Gas and Energy Sector or Power Generation
  • Experience in developing and reviewing project quality plans, contract documents and project specifications
  • Knowledge of electrical theory as it applies to renewable and non-renewable energies
  • Experience in developing QAQC SOPs, processes, and procedures
  • Experience in developing training and multiple strong stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to operate flexible work practices to achieve optimum result
  • Ability to work co-operatively with others to complete tasks and implement process improvements
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Ability to read and understand Blueprints

Job Location:

The position is based at Genser Energy Ghana Ltd EPC Project sites (Prestea, Chirano, Wassa and Manso Amefi etc.) in Western Region, Ghana.
