THE OPPORTUNITY
Under the supervision of the Regional Representative, West Africa, the Program Manager for Ghana will be an integral part of the Ghana Office team. The incumbent will provide program leadership for Ghana and be a strategic advisor to the Regional Representative, West Africa. They will work closely with members of national and regional program teams in Africa and program department teams in Canada (Volunteer Cooperation Program Impact team and Volunteer Mobilization team) as well as those in finance and administration in Canada to achieve organizational goals defined in the strategic and operational plans. This role involves working in collaboration with staff members of the Crossroads International Office in Ghana to provide relevant program information, tools and technical support and ensuring that all areas of responsibility are exercised in accordance with the mission, values, policies and procedures, standards and systems of Crossroads International.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Development and Management of Projects and Programs (70%):

Effectively manage lead volunteers (Program Support Advisor, Volunteer Support Advisor) in accordance with Crossroads volunteer management policies and procedures;
Organize and carry out annual evaluations;
Plan, carry out and monitor the recruitment of volunteers for Ghana;
Ensure effective monitoring of the work of volunteers in Ghana;
Ensure the establishment of a culture of partnership between Canadian volunteers and the staff of the Ghana Office;
Foster the creation of spaces for exchange, collaboration and learning between volunteers and the Ghana Office team.
Administration and Finance (10%)

Collaborate with the Regional Representative, West Africa and the Ghana Office Finance and Administration Officer on the annual budgeting process for Ghana;
Ensure the strict application of the safety and security manual of the Crossroads Ghana Office;
Contribute to the establishment and continuous improvement of Crossroads’ procedures and processes for Ghana;
Ensure the sound reconciliation of all special projects in Ghana in collaboration with the VCP Impact team and Finance department in Canada.
Other (5%)

Create synergies and promote the sharing of knowledge and practices between Crossroads VCP activities, other Crossroads projects and across Crossroads partners;
Ensure the effective integration and monitoring of gender equality and environmental strategies within the VCP and special projects;
Assume all other responsibilities inherent to the Ghana Office;
Act as a programming development advisor for Crossroads in Ghana;
Support Crossroads’ objectives within the framework of strategic and operational plans.

Skills Required
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO CROSSROADS

Postgraduate university education in a relevant field (international relations, project management, administration, etc.) or equivalent experience;
Experience of at least 5 years in program or project management, including on projects or programs in a developing country, or as part of an international cooperation project;
Ability to think and plan strategically and a proven ability to lead and inspire teams to do the same, and to develop project ideas;
Proven experience in developing, managing and reviewing complex budgets from various funding sources and in accordance with all internal and external contractual obligations;
Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex issues;
Proficiency in technologies, including SharePoint, Microsoft Office suite and financial systems;
Knowledge of Ghana and the context in relation to the rights of women and girls, in particular gender-based violence, leadership and economic empowerment;
Experience in managing development projects funded by Global Affairs Canada (asset);
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English (French an asset);
Willingness and ability to travel to countries in the region and occasionally to Canada.
