Job Purpose

This position involves working closely with the laboratory team to maintain high standards of accuracy, safety and compliance at the Assay Laboratory.

The Atomic Absorption Technician will operate, maintain and calibrate absorption spectrometers to accurately analyze and quantify the concentration of gold and other minerals in ore samples.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for the daily maintenance and care of the atomic absorption instrument, including cleaning the instrument surface, checking the operating status of each component, and ensuring the normal use of the atomic absorption instrument.
Ensure that the test report is issued objectively, accurately, clearly and completely, and implement effective quality control over the standardization, preparation, information to be covered, issuance, archiving and other aspects of the report.
Responsible for related wet chemistry steps.
Handle the report-related results and information with confidentiality.
Performs any other related duties based on the exigencies of the Company as assigned by the Supervisor.
Skills Required
Minimum qualification (s)

Degree/ Diploma in Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry, Metallurgy or equivalent in relevant discipline.
Minerals Commission Processing Technician Certificate of Competency is desirable.
Previous experience working with absorption spectrometers in a Laboratory or industrial setting.
Experience (Minimum)

3 years working experience as Atomic Spectrometer Technician or similar role in gold mineral processing.
Familiar with various chemical analysis methods and operating procedures, with experimental operation ability and data analysis ability.
Familiar with the method of AAS process.
Knowledge (In-depth)

Proficient in the operation of atomic absorption spectrometer, with solid analytical chemistry knowledge.
Have the knowledge and ability to perform routine maintenance and upkeep of analytical instruments to ensure that the instruments are in good working condition.
Skills

Able to skillfully use AAS to detect gold, silver, copper and other elements in gold ore.
Understand the equipment maintenance and regular verification/calibration regulations, know the status of the equipment.
Experience in using atomic absorption spectrometer in Au analysis.
Leadership and behavioural attributes

Good team playing and good observation skills.
Ability to operate multiple assay lab equipment used for gold analysis with good
problem-solving skills.
Ability to perform activities involving repetitive motion.
Strong commitment to timelines, accuracy, and professionalism with good communication skills and coordinating ability.
Close contact with test technology and understand the relevant test item limits.
