CONTEXT OF THE MANDATE

Oxfam-Quebec is implementing its new voluntary cooperation program (VCP) entitled “Equality in action” in close collaboration with Oxfam teams in the countries of intervention. This program takes place over a period of seven years (2020-2027) in thirteen countries and three regions.

The PCV aims to enhance the performance of local partner organizations in developing countries in the implementation of inclusive, innovative and sustainable development initiatives that will advance gender equality in the 13 countries. The knowledge, skills and expertise of qualified Canadian volunteers will be leveraged through short and long term assignments with local partner organizations.

As part of the start of its PCV, Oxfam-Québec is seeking to fill mandates that will support Oxfam teams in the 13 countries of intervention in order to contribute to the development of the implementation plan and the annual program work. Volunteers will also work closely with partner organizations to establish the baseline of the program and define our partnership approach.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

In close collaboration with the members of the Oxfam team in the country of intervention, the volunteer cooperating person will be responsible for:

Provide technical advice and support so that gender justice and women’s rights are part of the work of partners;
Ensure that international standards on gender and gender-based violence (GBV) are taken into account when planning and implementing the voluntary cooperation program;
Support partners and the team to promote safe programs for women and girls;
Support project managers, gender mainstreaming partners at all stages of the project cycle (from design to evaluation)
Support the identification of women’s rights organizations and young feminist movements able to collaborate with Oxfam in the design and implementation of the gender sensitive program and campaigns;
Participate in country planning exercises, in the development of the country strategy;
Provide support for gender strategy analysis associated with programming and advocacy;
Support documentation, knowledge management and learning exchange on gender with a view to disseminating initiatives targeting women’s rights and transformative women’s leadership
Share and embody Oxfam’s commitment to the zero tolerance policy against any behavior that violates the code of conduct, including sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse; intimidation; lack of integrity; corruption and fraud.
REQUIREMENTS

Be domiciled in Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana or Senegal and have:
Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status in Canada
or citizenship of a West African country other than the country where the person is domiciled.
University degree related to the field (feminist studies, or other related fields)
Three (3) years professional experience in a similar mandate
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010 (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) and Skype.
Command of the language of the country of assignment, spoken and written
Experience in facilitation and animation of groups
Adherence to Oxfam-Québec’s mission and values, including the promotion of equality between women and men.
International development work experience (asset).

REQUIREMENTS
