Full Time Greater Accra Plan International

Social Finance Associate
Date: 16-Nov-2020

Location: Flexible, UK

Company: Plan International

Since adopting our global strategy, 100 Million Reasons, our global work to advance children’s rights and equality for girls has had unprecedented impact. We have been transforming our operations at the Global Hub to be the best possible partner for the 8,000+ staff who work in our country offices, and working to become a more agile, efficient and accountable organization.

We have improved our mechanisms for collaboration, transparency and data-gathering and disaggregation. The transformation has increased the number of decisions to be taken close to the point of impact and distributed power more widely throughout the organisation. We have made significant progress towards greater localisation and developing industry-leading equality, diversity and inclusion best practices.

To bring about lasting change, we have to live our values. We are committed not simply to telling the world we are the go to organisation on girls’ rights, but to embedding justice and equality in all that we do. Will you join us?

The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it’s girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.

The Opportunity

As the Social Finance Associate, you will lead the Impact Lab’s Social Finance Advisory workstream which provides advisory support for all Plan International entities to implement social finance strategies and expand social finance expertise. You will shape the focus of the Advisory work to continually adapt it based on the organisation’s needs and market opportunities.

In this role you will support in designing and implementing educational opportunities to grow Plan’s capacity in social finance, whilst also overseeing knowledge management for all internal social finance activities and managing the Impact Lab’s internal communications channel. You will facilitate the Social Finance Taskforce, a group of internal social finance experts, by leading ongoing communications and designing and managing the content for the Taskforce meetings.

The Individual

We are looking to recruit an organised individual who has an interest in social finance and impact investing in an international development context. You will need to have some experience in developing and managing partnerships with external stakeholders, as well as experience in planning and delivering training through webinars and/or workshops.

To be successful in this role, you will be a pro-active team player with a flexible and dynamic approach. A creative individual who can find innovative solutions to problems and be able to prioritise tasks and deliver to tight deadlines. You will need to have strong research, presentation and negotiation skills and you will also be passionate about girls’ rights and gender equality.
