Grundfos SafeWater has established the Ghana Water Initiative with the purpose of implementing a new approach to water service delivery in rural Ghana. As a true SDG company focusing on clean water and sanitation (SDG #6) and taking action to combat climate change (SDG #13), we are invested in developing commercially viable solutions to providing water services to rural communities. We have begun this journey in Ghana with our first pilot site and with the aim to establish a commercially viable model that can be rolled out across Ghana. We aim to reach 1 million people with access to safe drinking water by 2025.
What is the job about?
As Head of Ghana Water Initiative, You will be responsible for the Ghana Water Initiative team, overseeing the implementation of new systems, and developing the financing model that will unlock financing for water entrepreneurs to facilitate the scale up of solutions.
You will contribute with the developing the business model for this complex entrepreneurial project, adapting it to the realities on the ground, and scaling it up to reach our target by 2025.

The Ghana Water Initiative has been in place since 2019 and has begun the hard work of obtaining approvals to operate and build the first site. You will join this team to build on the lessons that have been learned, build on existing partnerships, and together shape the project going forward.
You will be located at the Grundfos offices in Accra, where you and the 3 other team members will make up a strong and capable team. You will execute with a high degree of responsibility in collaboration with the core team and the Grundfos SafeWater organization and partners when needed. You will report directly to Partnership Development Manager and Senior Director for SafeWater based in the head office in Denmark.
Lead the way in solving the challenge
Taking on the commercial leadership, you will ensure business logic and develop new business models within the context of novel, ground-breaking solutions that are appropriate for rural water service delivery. You will be a key contributor to ensuring the commercial viability of the business model adopted and will develop the strategy to secure financing for the scale up of the project going forward.
Take ownership of the commercial vision, ensure the development of a holistic, well-balanced commercial concept, and drive a successful implementation
Apply your professional expertise in entrepreneurial development, including commercialisation, customer validation, business modelling, money-making logic, etc.
Be responsible for securing financing to the project, pitching to investors and negotiating deals
Explore new methods, models, go-to-market and positioning strategies, and validate these both internally and externally
Build on existing partnerships and explore new opportunities that can facilitate scale-up
Lead the process of developing a strong brand identity
What do you need to apply?
Entrepreneurial business developer who can develop in the role
You are a doer, entrepreneurial and ambitious, and thrive with uncertainty. You can balance the development of a long-term commercial vision with short-term deliverables and are known for your positive attitude.
Moreover, you will:
Hold a masters degree in business administration, economics, management, or similar
Minimum 5 years experience in leading commercialisation of innovative business offerings within a complex business environment, ideally from a large industrial company or a successful entrepreneur
Have proven results commercialising ground-breaking innovations
Have experience developing and implementing commercial processes, preferably within the water or energy sectors
Have experience in relationship building and team management, preferably across cultures
Have proven leadership, networking and negotiation skills
Speak and write English effortlessly
Ghanaian national or resident with the right to work
