Full Time Greater Accra Plan International

Global Sponsorship and Finance Manager
Date: 13-Nov-2020

Location: Flexible, UK

Company: Plan International

Since adopting our global strategy, 100 Million Reasons, our global work to advance children’s rights and equality for girls has had unprecedented impact. We have been transforming our operations at the Global Hub to be the best possible partner for the 8,000+ staff who work in our country offices, and working to become a more agile, efficient and accountable organization.

We have improved our mechanisms for collaboration, transparency and data-gathering and disaggregation. The transformation has increased the number of decisions to be taken close to the point of impact and distributed power more widely throughout the organisation. We have made significant progress towards greater localisation and developing industry-leading equality, diversity and inclusion best practices.

To bring about lasting change, we have to live our values. We are committed not simply to telling the world we are the go to organisation on girls’ rights, but to embedding justice and equality in all that we do. Will you join us?

The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it’s girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.

The Opportunity

As the Global Sponsorship & Finance Manager you will lead the accounting and finance for Project and Sponsorship funding, ensuring transformation to a high performing global approach enabling the development of the funding model and financial sustainability. You will work in close partnership with the Project Management team and you will provide support to colleagues in country offices and programme units to ensure they are able to fulfil the financial aspects of projects efficiently and effectively.

In this role you will co-lead the creation of comprehensive analysis and the commentary of Country Office project performance to be incorporated into regular management reports and financial accounts, working in partnership with regional finance managers and Country finance managers as required. You will budget and forecast to ensure policies are maintained and country offices are able to effectively manage their financial resources.

You will lead the maximisation of benefits from the ERP and M&E systems rollout to ensure Country Offices strengthen their approach to projects and sponsorship accounting on system, with simpler, faster procedures. You will also develop and implement guidance and procedures to build skills and capability in Project and Sponsorship finance.

The Individual

We are looking to recruit an individual with a strong understanding of development projects, ideally gained from country experience. You will be fluent in English and ideally have additional language skills, preferably in French/Spanish.

To be successful in this role you will have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and you will have the ability to communicate complex technical issues to non-technical audiences.
