Days for Girls International is an award-winning NGO that works to shatter stigma and limitations associated with menstruation for improved health, education, and livelihoods. Through our Education & Access to Menstrual Products Strategy, Days for Girls provides holistic menstrual health education curriculum and increases women and girls access to menstrual products. Through our Policy & Advocacy Strategy, Days for Girls educates and builds connections with national and international policymakers, coalitions, and organizations who can advance, accelerate and amplify the importance of menstrual health in improving education and livelihood outcomes for women and girls. To date, Days for Girls has reached more than 2.1 million women and girls in 144 countries on 6 continents with quality, sustainable menstrual care solutions, and health education.
The Global Director of Country Programs provides mentoring, leadership, guidance, and coordination for Days for Girls dedicated Country Directors and Country Representatives. The Global Director of Country Programs contributes to overall Global Programs decisions and strategy, while elevating the needs and viewpoints of Country Programs.
Description of Responsibilities:
Provide mentoring, leadership, and guidance for Country Directors and Country Representatives.
Lead regular bi-weekly check in calls with Country Directors and Country Representatives.
Work with Country Programs to determine frequency of additional check ins needed (advocacy, finance, education, development, etc), based on individual country needs. Oversee and assist with coordinating these additional check ins.
Lead monthly meeting with all Country Programs leadership. Responsible for setting a positive and transparent working culture for the Country Programs Team.
Deliberately work to create an inclusive culture in regards to DfGI and Country Programs. Diligently work to bridge gaps, making sure Country Programs both know and feel that they are a part of the Days for Girls International family. Work with CPO to ensure DfGIs structure, policies, and communication flows are conducive to this inclusivity.
Ensure each Country Program has a country strategy, yearly goals and work plans in place, tied to specific deliverables and/or indicators aimed toward fulfilling DfGs Theory of Change. Ensure deliverables are tracked regularly.
Identify and elevate sticking points Country Programs are experiencing.
Codify, and work to create clarity around decision making structures with the aim to increase country level autonomy and empower local decision making and strategy implementation. Work alongside Global Programs Leadership to identify which core pieces of DfG programs are universal in creating consistency and protecting DfGs brand, and which areas Country Programs have autonomy to customize programming to meet needs specific to their country.
Meet regularly with the Chief Programs Officer, providing updates on and elevating needs of Country Programs, while also identifying and helping to implement potential solutions.
Contribute to decision making conversations connected to the opening of new Country Programs. Participate in the interview process and selection of new Country Directors or Representatives.
Attend Global Program Director meetings, and elevate needs and opinions of Country Programs. Contribute to overall Global Programs decisions and strategy.
The Global Director of Country Programs will be a seasoned and mature leader with the following experience and attributes:
A minimum of five years of leadership experience, preferably with a mix of social enterprise and international development experience.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multicultural and geographically dispersed teams in complex working environments.
Demonstrated passion for the Days for Girls International mission and a desire to work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
Strong foundation of knowledge in one or more of the following: health, sexual reproductive rights, education, economic growth, value chains, entrepreneurship, organizational development, and/or SMEs.
A bachelors degree and preferably a postgraduate degree.
Written and verbal fluency in English required.
Demonstrated ability to motivate, retain, and mentor staff.
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic, global environment.
A passionate professional who combines strong leadership skills with patience and a humble approach to service.
Compensation & Benefits:
Annual salary for this position will be established at the time of hire and will be reviewed annually.
