This position is responsible for the day to day supervision and performance of capital mining crusher installation and commissioning. The functionality of this position is keenly focused on safety, customer service, and customer satisfaction. Job scope includes, but is not necessarily limited to, field service activities such as training, technical troubleshooting analysis and recommending solutions, and start-up / commissioning advisory services.

 

Essential Functions, Job Duties, and Responsibilities

Communicates and interacts with all levels of organization staff and management, internally and externally.
Work at remote customer sites around the world for extended periods of time
Perform start-up procedure, inspection, commissioning, and customer maintenance/operator training.
Work with customer’s site commissioning team to achieve process and production goals at machine commissioning
Perform pre-installation audits to determine site conditions, customer preparedness, project inventory, and overall project installation logistics
Provide customer technical support by phone, email, or on-site visits.
Produces regular reports and activity summaries to confirm the utilization, direction, and results of all capital projects.
Remains easily accessible and readily available due to the customer or end-user service requirements sometimes being unscheduled and/or arising due to emergency.
Responsible for maintaining the highest standards of health & safety within the field service team.
Trains in the areas of basic electrical, hydraulic and mechanical service and application of crushers.
Willingly engages field service problem-solving opportunities with a quick, first responder, take ownership kind of approach, seeing it through to resolution.

Other Duties

Attend customer meetings as necessary to develop customer solutions and provide technical supporting the technology.
Completes & submits, in accordance with Metso reporting and billing rules and processes, any recommendations, evaluations, expense reports, action reports, monthly work logs, etc.
Provides advisory services and makes recommendations using product knowledge and management for commissioning, repairs, assembly, troubleshooting, installation of equipment manufactured and / or delivered by Metso.
Provides field and classroom-based service-maintenance-commissioning training for customers/end-user operations / maintenances personnel.
Provides field-based training for customer service personnel in the administration of service-related policy and procedures. Most particularly in the areas of Delivery & Acceptance, Commissioning, Warranty Registration, and Product Warranty in accordance with acknowledged Metso policies and procedures.
Understands “Lock Out/Tag Out” procedures on-site locations. Always complies with Metso and site safety rules and procedures

Travel

Up to 90% may be required for this position.

 

Qualifications

5 years minimum experience in crusher/related industrial equipment technical support and service.
Associates degree in engineering, or high school diploma with equivalent related experience.
At least 3 years of supervisory experience is required.
Experience in troubleshooting technical-field-related problems.
Millwright certification and/or hydraulics certifications are desirable.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a heavy equipment field service technician or mechanic.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the areas of hydraulic and mechanical engineering.
Minimum level 2 competency in MCT core crushing, feeding & screening products.
Some exposure to electrical engineering related to mechanical applications is an advantage.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to effectively lead and supervise customer/user personnel under various working conditions and hours.
Ability to interact, on a technical level, with Field Sales, Training, Application & Technical Support groups as well as Parts, Support & Engineering groups.
Ability to maintain a steady and level attitude when pressured.
Ability to perform service functions in all crushing & screening site environments with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
Ability to solve problems and situations that may occur in the field during assembly, installation, maintenance, and or repair, with safety being of the utmost importance. Must take ownership of problem-solving opportunities with a constructive attitude, commitment, and understanding always.
Ability to train others, including providing required training and qualification of customer service personnel in classroom, hands-on, and field environments.
Ability to travel extensively (Domestic and International).
Ability to work cross-functionally and as a member of a team. Positive attitude, solid commitment, and understanding of team effort at the highest professional level.
Ability to work in various climates (including all kinds of adverse weather conditions) and maintain expected performance.
Ability to work long hours and stay in remote locations for extended periods of time. May work occasional weekends (varies with travel).
Ability to work well with others, including internal and external customers.
Good computer skills including all MS-Office software.
Must be physically able to climb onto structures stairs, ladders, scaffolds at job sites, customer facilities, industrial plants, and mines, inspect equipment (both stationary and mobile) for failure and process analysis and enter equipment access points.
Must have a valid driver’s license and passport for domestic and international travel.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) with all levels of management.
Strong interpersonal skills – Always engage with the customer, end-user, and internal personnel in a professional and courteous manner.
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and climb or balance.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
Time management skills are essential.
Understanding of MCT health & safety, reporting, and distribution Policy, and Procedures.
Understanding of the use and application of test measurement equipment/tools, installation, and procedures on and around heavy equipment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear.
Working knowledge of heavy equipment related to the crushing and screening industry.
