About The Role

The position is embedded in Barry Callebaut’s Ghana local sustainability team, with direct reporting to the Farm Services Manager and provide support in the preparation of compliance and internal reports, training material development amongst other activities. Candidate will be key in supporting the existing team in translating project goals and objectives into deliverables in the communities.

Key Responsibilities

Increase recognition and engagement with our mission, programs, and impact by engaging registered farmers, recruiting new farmers and enhance the understanding of farm member needs on the program
Manage data captured by coaches on the Farm service App (approvals/rejections/revision, down payment, etc.)
Collate data on farmers receiving under planting, planting materials, productivity packages, new interventions introduced and report to the Monitoring & Evaluation team
Conduct site visits and provide consultation to farmers and program participants to implement best management practices to enhance the sustainability of their operations.
Develop field-ready strategies to increase cocoa smallholder farmers’ knowledge and use of appropriate agricultural inputs in response to barriers.
Document successful business models for rejuvenated farms and support producer’s adoption of those models.
Evaluate and document program impacts such as participant knowledge gain, numbers of farmers adopting practices.
Provide Technical trainings to coaches on the Farm Service App, GAP and new interventions as well as assist in the appraisals of the Farm Service Coaches and other subordinates under his/her jurisdiction
Form labour gangs and NSLA and manage them effectively for a mutual benefit
Train farmers on cocoa and shade trees nurseries establishment and management
Oversee and provide technical assistance in monitoring and evaluation activities with implementing packages to farmers and any miscellaneous duties, as requested by Management
Assist with programmatic monitoring to ensure compliance, progress towards objectives and expected results, and work plan adherence.

About You

B.Sc. in a horticultural or agronomic science field or 5 years of relevant work experience in organic/sustainable agriculture.
Maximum of 3 years sustainable farming and post-harvest handling experience. An expert in supporting farmers FBP Planning and registration and provide technical assistance to farmers on how to implement best practices in postharvest handling, washing, packing, storage, and transportation necessary to meet wholesale market product specifications for associated crops under the model.
Have good knowledge on cocoa agronomic systems and conservation practices, on-farm food safety and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and consumer concerns.
Ability to communicate simple and concise regulatory and resource conservation issues with farmers.
Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and work independently and effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Ability to work well within a team and with individuals, both internal and external, from diverse backgrounds.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency with MS Office Pro applications
Self-motivated with good time and stress management skills.
Ability to maintain positive attitude on customer satisfaction
Excellent attention to details as well being proactive, creative and reliable
