INVITATION TO TENDER

You are invited to submit a tender to provide a market research analysis for parboiled rice in Ghana to the PROCED-SOCODEVI Project. By participating in this tender, you should respond to the guidelines set out in this invitation.

We have provided the key details of Proced-Socodevi requirements which should be considered in your response. Please respond with your intention to tender confirmation before 3rd March 2019.

The requirements of the tender are stated below
Collaborating with the Youth Harvest Foundation team in Bolgatanga.
Market analysis in Burkina Faso and Ghana
Equipment analysis in Upper East Region

1. Objectives of the visit to Ouagadougou
A. Make an analysis of the whole parboiling process according to these variables:
• Water in the Parboiling process: source and waste
• Fuel used (if it would be feasible to use rice husks as a fuel source and in case of breakage, working with corn crop residues and if necessary with wood)
• Rice drying process in the dry and rainy season (canvas or concrete drying stations)
• The proximity of the mill factory from the steaming units and how long can we wait to mill after parboiling?

B. Evaluate the equipment used for parboiling (vessel and oven) according to these variables:
• Price
• Product quality
• Hardness of work
• Environmental and deforestation impacts

C. Evaluate the equipment used for the post-parboiling activities (drying and milling equipment) according to these variables:
• Price
• Product quality
• Capacity of production

D. Evaluate suppliers (or manufacturers) of equipment according to these variables:
• Price
• Product quality
• Capacity of production

E. Evaluate the price and marketing of Parboiled rice in Burkina Faso according to these variables:
• Price
• Product quality
• Package
• Size
• Variety

2. Objectives of the Farmer Based organization tour and visits to markets/shops in the Upper East region:
A. Make an analysis of the whole parboiling process according to these variables:
• Water in the Parboiling process: source and waste
• Fuel used (if it would be feasible to use rice husks as a fuel source and in case of breakage, working with corn crop residues and if necessary with wood)

• Vessels
• Oven
• Drying
C. Propose improvements to this current equipment
• What kind of system or drainage systems can be used to manage the waste water used in the soaking and steaming process
• Assess the fuel sources currently available
• Can improvements be made to the ovens that are being used and the different types of fuels used by these ovens? Eg. Hybrid?
D. Search for suppliers (or manufacturers) of the equipment

E. Evaluate the price and marketing of rice in the Upper East according to these variables:
• Price
• Product quality
• Package
• Size
• Variety

B.General information on the production and marketing of rice in Ghana.

Submissions will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
• CV of personnel involved
• Quality of the proposal
• Price
• Duration
• Availability date
